Thinking about where to go fishing on the West Coast? How about this....

Winter on Burbury - An aerial shot of the lake and boats.
The magical scenery of Lake Burbury!

If you're looking at the weather forecast and wanting to give the magnificent scenery and waters of the West Coast of Tasmania a try, here's some information to consider.

Remember the MaST prohibition notice for all of Lake Rosebery is in force until Wednesday 22 January 2025, and may be extended beyond this date.

People and vessels must stay out of the waters of the entire lake for their own safety until the area is declared safe from the oil spill, and the notice rescinded.

Failure to comply can attract an infringement notice of $1010, with anyone failing to comply with an order to leave the area from an Authorised Officer or police officer liable for an additional infringement notice of $1010.

Please don't put yourself at risk, obey the notice, observe the barrier tape around the lake shore and allow EPA staff to continue their hard work to resolve the issue as quickly as they can.

Lake Plimsoll offers good brook trout fishing at the moment.  Boat anglers have found success by trolling deep and shore anglers are reporting success fishing around the lake margins where the fish are feeding on the dropping gum beetles.

Other lakes performing well with favourable water levels for this time of year are Lakes Mackintosh, Burbury and Pieman. All offer good camping areas and are worth a look with the weather forecast up until the middle of next week looking good.

Don't forget Lake Mackintosh still has two $5000 tagged trout in the Tasmanian Tagged Trout Promotion. Why not try or reacquaint yourself with the central west?

Tight lines!!
