Background
Wayatinah Lagoon is a Hydro Tasmania storage on the Derwent River. A medium sized storage, it is suitable for boating and has a formal caravan park and campground on its western shore. The fishing at Wayatinah is amongst the best of the lower Derwent lakes with small to medium sized brown trout fairly abundant. Redfin perch also have a large population at the lagoon. As there is a fish farm situated near the lagoon there is always the chance of an Atlantic salmon.
Getting There
Wayatinah Lagoon is accessed via the Lyell Highway and has the Wayatinah village situated on its western shoreline. The turnoff to the village and lagoon are very well sign posted and only a short drive.
