Boat ramp closure at Lake Gairdner
Hydro Tasmania advises that the only formally recognised boat ramp at Lake Gairdner will be closed temporarily from next week, as the result of scheduled power station maintenance.
Hydro Tasmania needs to undertake work at Wilmot Power Station, during which the station will not be operational. The work will start on 8 February 2016.
Lake Gairdner is being drawn down to approximately 12 metres below the full supply level to minimise the risk of spill while the power station is not operating.
At this level, the Lake Gairdner boat ramp will not be able to be used, and it will be closed during the maintenance period.
The works are expected to last four weeks, during which time the lake will slowly refill.
