The long weekend offers time to go angling but PLEASE follow the advice of the emergency services. There are so many fires all over the state so think carefully about where you go.

Parks and Wildlife Service are asking people NOT to venture into remote areas from now until the end of the long weekend (Tuesday 29 January 2019).

We are recommending that you stay local and take a day fishing trip close to population centres. Leave your camping trip for another weekend.

Given the fires conditions across the state many walking tracks in the national parks are closed. For full details, please head to the PWS website; Track/Reserve Closure and Visitor Advice – www.parks.tas.gov.au.

There is a total fire ban across the State until at least 2:00 am on Monday 28 January. For the latest fire information please check the Tas Fire website – www.fire.tas.gov.au and listen to ABC local radio for regular updates.

There are now many road closures across the state. For the latest updates on road closures, visit the Tasmania Police Community Alerts page.

Keep informed. Conditions can change quickly. Stay safe and enjoy your fishing.
