Rainbow trout released into Risdon Brook Reservoir

Risdon Brook Reservoir is a fishery reserved for anglers with a disability. Only anglers with with a Transport Access Scheme permit may fish here. The fishing season is from 7 August 2021 to 1 May 2022.

With the support of TasWater the Reservoir has recently been stocked with 250 rainbow trout. The fish average 280 grams and are catchable size.

Last year the Reservoir received 300 rainbow trout of a similar size. These fish have grown significantly making them a prized catch for any angler. The Reservoir is productive and receives little fishing pressure. It provides a unique opportunity to catch quality trout within 20 minutes of Hobart.

It is important to note that fishing is only permitted with artificial lures or fly from the two specifically designed platforms.

Everyone can enjoy fishing but accessing a good fishing spot can sometimes be tricky. There are areas that make angling easier.

Here is a list of where can find accessible angling around the State.
