The Derwent Catchment Project (DCP) ran another successful volunteer planting day on the Tyenna River at Maydena in late November.

A further 240 native trees and shrubs were planted, taking the plantings to date to over 500.

It was very pleasing to see that the previous plantings from May 2024 had a 99% success rate despite being inundated in recent flooding.  This is testament to the plant selection and propagation by the DCP nursery at Hamilton.

Future planting days and weed management will be undertaken on this section of river in Autumn 2025.
