Brady's chain opening proving popular

A perfect day at the Bradys canal heading into Lake Binney

Over the Kings Birthday long weekend our Officers were on duty in the Central Highlands.

It was pleasing to see good numbers of anglers taking advantage of the recent opening of the Brady’s chain of lakes (Bradys Lake, Lake Binney and Tungatinah Lagoon). Our Officers inspected 30 anglers on the water on Saturday, including many campers enjoying the ideal weather conditions.

Rainbow and Brown trout had been caught and catch rates will get a boost in the near future as our stocking team completes their winter operations. Keep an eye on the IFS website for the latest stocking details.

Although most waters are currently closed, there are still some great options for winter fishing at our all year round waters. Highlights include:

  • Brushy Lagoon
  • Huntsman Lake
  • Craigbourne Dam
  • yingina/Great Lake
  • Lake Burbury
  • Lower Derwent, kanamaluka/River Tamar and Leven Rivers
