The Inland Fisheries Service (IFS) has decided to open the Bradys Lake system (including Bradys Lake, Lake Binney and Tungatinah Lagoon) for recreational angling from 1 June 2024.

Opening of the Bradys Lake system for recreational angling from 1 June 2024 is permitted via an exemption permit issued by the Director of Inland Fisheries, under the Inland Fisheries Act 1995.

The inflowing water at Bradys Lake, known as the “whitewater”, will remain closed to angling during this period to protect any spawning brown trout.

This two-month period, ahead of the official opening of the brown trout season on Saturday 3 August 2024, will provide additional angling opportunities for licence holders over winter, and is being undertaken on a trial basis for 2024.

Anglers can assist the IFS throughout this trial period by logging their fishing activity using the Angler Diary feature within the InFish App 2.0.

Anglers who hold a 2023-24 angling licence will be able to fish the Bradys Lake system from 1 June 2024, through until 31 July 2024.  From 1 August 2024, anglers will require a 2024-25 angling licence.

Angling licence renewals, or new licence purchases, for the 2024-25 season, will be available from 1 July 2024.
