New footbridge improves access on the River Leven

Gunns Plains is known as one of the best locations for fishing on the Leven particularly when grasshoppers are present during summer. The river flows through pasture and is easily wadeable with many glides and riffles ideal for all methods of angling.

These great angling opportunities could not happen without the many private landowners on the River Leven who give their ongoing support.

As part of our of Anglers Access program a new footbridge has been installed on the River Leven at Gunns Plains to improve safe access for anglers. It spans a deep drainage channel just upstream from Lee Memorial Park on the western side of the river.

The footbridge which was constructed and installed by ELS Labour Services from Ulverstone is made of galvanised steel.  IFS will be installing this type of bridge for future access projects due to the strength and durability advantages over timber construction.
