Hectic carp hunt
We have been putting intense pressure on the remaining carp in Lake Sorell with traps, nets and electrofishing. The past three months has been a war as we have taken on each wave of carp that have come during each rain and warm weather event. We have caught 223 carp since the start of October and despite catching some important large, mature fish most have been small runts of a population that is struggling under our fishing pressure. It is still a critical time when carp can spawn so we will continue to fish daily through until the end of February. There will be no rest for those carp as we hunt them down.
