From Monday 11 December to Wednesday 13 December 2023, the Inland Fisheries Service are planning to do a fish survey at Penstock Lagoon. This will involve the setting of a significant number of box traps, mostly around the shoreline. Anglers are asked to be mindful of this work and consider fishing at other locations.

We know this is a popular time for fishing but need to do this survey while previously marked fish remain in good numbers and are moving freely within the lagoon.

We are doing the work to validate a population assessment carried out during July. This will allow us to gain important information about the trout numbers in the lagoon and assist in managing the fishery over the coming years.
