Tasmanian Tagged Trout Promotion - kicks off on Saturday 5 October 2024
The Tasmanian Government, with the Inland Fisheries Service (IFS), has launched a new Tagged Trout Promotion to encourage people to go trout fishing and support regional economies.
A total of $150,000 has been committed by the Tasmanian Government for tagged trout over the next three years – with $80,000 up for grabs during the 2024-25 inland recreational angling season.
This season the IFS has released sixteen tagged brown trout across nine lakes, with the promotion starting on Saturday 5 October 2024.
Each tagged fish is worth $5 000 to the lucky angler who makes the catch (conditions apply).
The tags are yellow and have unique identifying details.
The lakes with tagged fish are:
-
- Lake Mackintosh
- Lake Rowallan
- Huntsman Lake
- Lake Leake
- yingina / Great Lake
- Bradys Lake
- Arthurs Lake
- Lake Sorell
- Craigbourne Lake
To win one of the prizes, you'll need to catch a fish with the correct tag and report the details of your catch, with photo evidence, to the IFS. Fish caught in the promotion must be kept with tag intact for verification.
Entry into the tagged trout promotion is open to all holders of a current freshwater angling licence, or persons aged under 14 who have the permission of their parent or guardian.
Fish caught before the start, or after the finish of the promotion dates, are not eligible to win a prize. Tagged fish from previous promotions are also not eligible.
