Fishing a sport in the Emergency Services Games!

Registrations are now open for the 2025 Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games being held in Tasmania from 15–22 March 2025.

This will be the second time the Games have been held in Hobart, and 40 years since the Games began – offering the opportunity for all emergency services staff and volunteers throughout Australasia to come together for a week of sporting, cultural and social activities.

With almost 60 different sports on offer the Games will be the largest multidiscipline sporting event to ever take place in Tasmania. Over 3,000 people are expected to compete and fishing will feature prominently!

The competition will include a fly fishing and general trout fishing contest as both singles and within teams. Medals will be presented at a ceremony to the top three placements in each category. Brag mats will be used for competitors to photograph their catch before releasing back into the water.

The Games are all about friendly competition and social networking within the emergency service fields. So, if you’re a mad keen fisher that meets the eligibility criteria, this event is for you.
