Lake Rosebery Oil Spill - Partial Reopening
Hydro Tasmania have advised that Lake Rosebery will partially reopen to the public as of Saturday 22 February 2025.
Mackintosh Gorge and the Henry Bay Boat Ramp will remain closed until further notice to facilitate the ongoing oil spill clean-up operations.
The Department of Health has advised it is safe to use the lake for recreational use, but in the unlikely event that there is oil on the water, the public should not swim or take boats on the water and should avoid swallowing water or touching oiled plants and rocks.
The Department of Health has also advised that the public should not eat fish or eels from Lake Rosebery until further notice. The Inland Fisheries Service is assisting with the undertaking of further testing to assess safety of fish consumption.
